School Introduction

Located in the heart of beautiful Vancouver, BC - at the entrance to Granville Island, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts is dedicated to providing first-class career training in the Baking & Pastry and Culinary Arts.

In conjunction with our 10th year of operation, PICA was the proud recipient of the 2006/07 Consumers' Choice Award for Business Excellence in the category of BC Trade School. This award solidifies the Institute's commitment to quality, service and value.

An accredited institute, PICA was the first private training facility in Canada with a student-operated, fine dining restaurant and bakeshop & café on the premises. Our students - never more than 15 per class - train in commercial kitchens with European-trained Chef Instructors. Ninety percent hands-on training and 10% theory instruction ensure students are prepared for employment immediately upon graduation.

Schedule & Fees

Programs commence four times per year with continuous enrollment.

Tuition for Canadian/U.S. students $12,575.00 CAD
Tuition for International students $14,975.00 CAD

Facilities

PICA is comprised of eight modern, commericial training kitchens, four lecture rooms, a chocolate studio and wedding cake decorating studio. Additionally, the Institute includes a highly esteemed, student-operated restaurant and bakeshop & café.

Admission Requirements

Eligible applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or if 19 years of age or older, may apply as a mature student. Those who speak English as a second language must provide documentation of their ability to read, write and converse in the English language at a high level. Finally, successful applicants must demonstrate a serious commitment to becoming a professional culinarian.

Faculty

All of our Chef Instructors are European-trained and each possesses over 10 years of fine dining industry experience worldwide.
