School Introduction

Our Chef School is a Boutique style - "Restaurant Chef School" that offers intensive, hands-on courses in the culinary arts.
We boast to be the only “real life – real drama” cooking school in the Greater Toronto Area. You will not only be immersed in a professional cooking program you will live within one of Mississauga’s Best Restaurants.

We offer THREE Registered Diploma Programs with very distinct career and life orientations. Each of our Diplomas are focused on teaching both food science, cooking methods and hands-on skill development required to be successful in any Restaurant Kitchen.

Facilities

Which program is right for you:
Culinary Arts Diploma: You are looking to be trained in both the theory and practical understanding of a professional cook. You may or may not be interested in working in a restaurant line position but may explore the various career opportunities available in the food service industry; such as catering, long term care food service or personal cook.
Culinary Management Diploma: You are a graduate our Culinary Arts Diploma or from a Basic Cook program from another college and are now seeking a greater understanding of menu and venue development. In this strong research and development program you will be involved in your own venue development, planning and facilitation. You will be assigned one of The Elliott House restaurant private dining rooms and will have the responsibility to produce several fine dining supervised events.
Professional Chef Diploma: You are without question planning on being a restaurant Chef. You have little or no Professional Cooking experience however you want to be trained in a method that encompasses the above two Diplomas but is also focused on cooperative experiential learning. This program is broken into Three distinct career categories on route to training you to become a Chef.

Admission Requirements

Individuals who are seeking admission to Chef School – CHEF COLLEGE DEPARTMENT are required to complete or submit the following:

1. Admissions Interview (in person or over the phone) with an Admissions representative. The purpose of the interview is to:

a. Explore the prospective student's background and interests as they relate to the programs offered at The Culinary Arts School of Ontario;

b. Assist prospective students to identify the appropriate area of study consistent with their previous education, background, and stated or demonstrated interest in our program offerings;

c. Provide information concerning curriculum offerings and support services available at The Culinary Arts School of Ontario.

2. We require high school (Grade 12 or GED 12) or mature student (19 years of age or older) as of the start date of the program.

3. A registration fee of $500 will be required to hold seat in class selected.

4. The student must also complete Chef School assessment for admissions test.

Interships & Externships

Students will be required to demonstrate though cooperative learning, sound understanding of the professional requirements and techniques expected within the hospitality industry. Work Placements (WORK) are established and monitored by the school; successful students will be offered work placements at the schools on campus restaurant “The Elliott House Restaurant” or with other partnered Restaurants or foodservice organizations.
