The beautiful campus is located on the premises of the former Kowie Grand Hotel, one of the oldest hotels in the town. It is a characteristic building steeped in history.
The hotel buildings have been converted into a complex containing lecture rooms, PBL tutorial rooms for small group learning, a library, a computer laboratory and residential accommodation. The facilities have been adapted to specifically accommodate the EISS International methods of instruction and to integrate general and residential campus life, ensuring the highest levels of hospitality management education.
Student accommodation is located in the former hotel bedrooms. Some of these offer impressive views of the town, river and sea. Old landmarks such as the Ladies Bar and dining room for students and staff still make a great place to meet and relax for sundowners.
The available rooms are suites equipped with all the modern conveniences offering sufficient space for living and studying.
The Halyards Properties are used as work-based learning facilities. The Halyards Hotel, situated on the Port Alfred Marina and overlooking the Kowie River mouth, is fully operational with its suite of rooms, restaurants and bar, and conference facilities. Presently the hotel is being upgraded and more rooms and conference facilities are built. The Halyards Lodge and Spa offers more accommodation facilities and a health spa where students can do some of their front office and reception training.
The Library
The library is equipped with all the necessary facilities for students to use during their studies. There are, inter alia, a number of computers for use with projects or to access the internet, copy machines, study facilities, etc.
Photographic and other equipment is also available to assist students with their assignments and projects. EISS International prescribes to a large number of electronic sites for academic use.
Lecture Facilities
Lecture facilities in the form of an auditorium, lecture room and various PBL rooms are available for some of the facilitation methods used in the programme. The second phase of building is already under way, where more lecture facilities will be built.
Training kitchen
The training kitchen is situated adjacent to the operational kitchen. Students will do most food practical lessons at this kitchen. The kitchen and adjacent restaurant is also used for work-based learning activities. Students will be involved in certain functions that may be held at the hotel and campus for training purposes.
